In Ableton Live I have demo and not convinced I need to use it I can see that the pots, buttons and importantly the “AXYZ” dome control register as MIDI signals – in a little light that blinks when a control is activated top right of the main window.
Our Verdict MIDI-only controller that delivers solid performance, but not the most solid build quality. Alssis completely new to all the midi technology and GarageBand – I am a guitarist and only recently started playing with the software that allows me to record like the good old 4 track but infinitely more – so please point me in the right direction – I may need another forum or community I can ask, and I appreciate it is a long path to understand how all this kit works.

I don’t see how I can get the controls mapped in GarageBand – photoon determine the best way to get the most out of my midi controller.

Posted on Jan 2, 2: The Photon 25 is the MIDI-only version of the X25, and, while it doesn’t feature the natty controller dome of its big brother, it does have a plethora of knobs – 12 assignable rotaries, no less. I know there is probably google and Fine Manual Reading to be done but I’d appreicate the pointers from the guys who know the most efficient way to get started. Cons Build quality is a bit suspect.

The controller can be powered via mains, puoton or USB. It’s not the most bullet-proof, but the price isn’t the highest and you get a lot of control with those triple-layered dials.
The keys are full-size and playable, octave shift buttons extend the range five octaves up and down, while alwsis and modulation control is via a small joystick, rather than rotary dials. Cheers and thanks for anyone kind enough to point a new user in the right directions.
